The tour will take you around Amsterdam in typical, low bridge built boats. A great way to see downtown medieval Amsterdam from an interesting moving perspective in a very short period. The advantage of the water: no traffic lights, no traffic congestion like a Hop on Hop off bus.
The tour includes a headphone with 5 languages to choose from and informs you of a number of highlights Amsterdam canals have to offer.

The embarkation quay is at the Central Station, 200 meters from the subway Central Station. People attending the opening ceremony and having booked for the canal cruise will leave the Van der Valk Hotel at 17:00.

Access: you need to step down 5 steps. Wheelchairs can be left at the quay, but should be locked to a pole with your own lock. Wheelchairs cannot be taken onboard. There is wheelchair accessibility up until the boat.

Facility: there is a very limited bar service onboard, a toilet and a captain who manages the boat. Heating and large glass viewing.

The tour will disembark participants one block away from the Sea Palace, the restaurant where the Friendship dinner is taking place.

FRIENDSHIP DINNER (ticketed event to be booked via the registration form)
19:00-22:00
Meet up with long time friends again at the Sea Palace, a large Chinese restaurant, and enjoy a 3-course shared dining at tables of
8 people with view on the Amsterdam harbour.

Please note that the friendship dinner venue is on the first floor, which is accessible by a 12-steps staircase only as there is no elevator or ramp to get to the first floor.

After the dinner, you can decide to either stay in town or go back to your hotel. The subway runs until 00:15 (to Van der Valk and Leonardo Royal Hotels: metro No. 51, stopover at Amstel).

PARALLEL WORKSHOPS
SWITCHING GEARS: NEW TYPES OF CLUBS
14:00-14:45
Is it possible to organise a club with wine producers or beer brewers, golf-players from the region, dealing with one theme such as child poverty or safety for biking kids? Do we need an acceptance committee and complicated admission procedures for new members?
Of particular interest to Lieutenant-Governors and Kiwanians who want to create new clubs, this session will explore new possibilities, dispel some of the myths and misconceptions about the creation of new clubs.

SIGNATURE PROJECTS DUTCH EXAMPLES
14:00-15:00
Come and hear how Dutch clubs create and implement projects that brighten up children’s faces and make them forget for a day or more their sometimes difficult daily life. You’ll hear how the Kiwanis Vliegerfeest gives hundreds of children the opportunity to experience the joy of flying a kite.
You’ll also learn how the Kiwanis club of Utrecht organised a fundraising and contest aimed at children’s education on the occasion of the 900 anniversary of the town.

PARALLEL WORKSHOPS
GET GRANTS FOR ORGANISING MEETUPS
15:00-15:45
Learn how to get up to €2,500 to cover the costs of organising Kiwanis MeetUps and create new clubs. Provisional district Romania set the example by organising MeetUps and gaining new members at each event. Join this workshop to gain knowledge about the Romanian example!

SIGNATURE PROJECTS DUTCH EXAMPLES
15:15-15:45
Discover how Kiwanis Club Halderberge-Rucphen helps to ease the physical and emotional burden of children with cancer. Through the Dutch Childhood Cancer Organisation, children receive the “Bravery cord” made of beads, each of which has a particular meaning (drawing blood, chemotherapy, ICU admission…). Helping children through treatment, it helps them better understand what they are going through – it also tells their own unique story!

A SIGNATURE PROJECT WITH AN OLD DUTCH CUSTOM
16:00-16:30
An initiative of Kiwanis Club Laren – the club from which KI-E President Martien van der Meer comes – Art Laren is an international open-air fair of modern and contemporary art. All net profits go to charities for the welfare of children such as the creation of school gardens to promote eating of more vegetables and fruits, taking children to an adventure park for a day.
Traditionally, this art fair starts with the “New Herring Party” – an old Dutch custom in which herring and cornwine are key elements of the party!

GALA DINNER (ticketed event to be booked via the registration form)
19:30-24:00
Pack your evening dress or black tie to join the gala dinner at the Leonardo Royal Hotel. Enjoy the company of your fellow Kiwanians from other countries, accompanied by some good food (soft drinks, wines and beers are included). The dinner will be enlightened by soft music so you can be sure that you can talk with your neighbour. After dessert, the floor will be cleared to make space for a bit more “TUNE IN, PLAY ON” practice – put on your dancing shoes for a live DJ session!
